I did read ANA's disclaimer and read United's Basic Economy warnings. What I was trying to say is that for those kinds of bookings, maybe they can skip the seat map and warn them that you need to go straight to ANA instead of making the seat map available, letting users select, only to reject after payment.
Again, I understand the rules and respect them, and have read the disclaimers; it's just United could've programmed the systems better so that users are not given "false hope". I might have sounded whiny in the thread, and I apologize for it.
