Checked in today. As a Diamond, I booked two doubles, resort view. First upgrade on the app got me into a Tapa tower ocean view, 16th floor, I didn't check in, next time that I looked, I was down-upgraded to a Tapa tower partial ocean view, 33rd floor. I didn't take that either and held out to do an in-person check-in. I had a very nice fdc who, after about 10 minutes, ended up giving me an ocean view in the Rainbow tower, 29th floor. I am happy with that. It is a seven night stay, so that may have limited my upgrades.
I am trying it out as I couldn't get into the Hyatt. So far, I like it better than the Marriott, but not as good as the Hyatt. The layout reminds me of a Disney resort. A lot of walking, but for the most part enjoyable. The room is nice, I received one of the recently refurbished ones. No real complaints about the room. My $18 daily f and b credit isn't going to far, but that seems par for the course these days at most properties. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
