I'm still trying to digest this. It sounds like they really have no idea about many of the issues with the program. One thing is crystal clear, book partner flights on partner sites. Now that partner bonuses are a thing (sometime later in 2026) I am even wondering about the utility of elite status. I spent some time this morning looking up partner awards next Sept to LIS, MAD, and BCN. The cupboard for J is bare if you are trying to find two tickets. The reason I value AS so much is their J partner awards. In the AMA it sounded a lot like they knew there was going to be a lot less J availability and that's just how it's going to be.Some of the coach awards even from Iceland Air are north of 100K points. Should I just spend all my points on AS domestic/Mexico and shift to UA? UA is spend based (like AS will be) but they can at least get you all over Europe on their own metal and you don't have to deal with "partners". Its a dilemma.
