As for going up to a kiosk, I always access a kiosk by typing in my FF number. I don’t use kiosks often, so I guess UA took this option away? If so, true idiots there in an otherwise industry leading IT platform. I have my UA, AA, DL & WN numbers all memorized, and that is absolutely my default way to access a kiosk.
The latest kiosk UX they haven't taken it away they've just added an extra tap or two to get there compared to the "traditional" Kiosk UX. Before you could just tap it in and the kiosk could figure out if you entered a PNR, MP#, or one of the other valid entries... Now you have to explicitly tap that you're entering your MP# (the default is PNR).
But agree that it's a stupid and backwards UX decision that will only slow every transaction. UA kiosks and CO kiosks before that have been able to figure this out on their own for nearly if not more than 20 years now so why make this regression? Unless UA is also trying to make everyone memorize their PNRs (I'll admit I used to but no longer even attempt to) there's not a benefit to them.
