Beyond that, what exactly are the benefits I'm allegedly getting that are worth tens of thousands of dollars?
Totally agree. At the moment I probably have 85 eups in my account that probably won't get used given the difficulty of upgrading from Y to J--even for SEs. Sadly, my employer will only pay for Y (comfort), which rarely will get me upgraded. I guess you could enumerate other things like lounges (generously worth approx $1-2k per year. I have no doubt the concierge service is great, but I haven't had the occasion to interact with one (other than a friendly hello) in well over a year.
