Was supposed to fly SKG-ATH-AMS on Oct 3 on A3101 and A3624.
Due to undisclosed reason, A3101 for SKG-ATH was delayed by over 1 hour. At least 30 people missed their connections, including 10 people on ATH-AMS.
A3 did rebook me onto KL1954 and offer me 18E to spend at the airport. I did also get one of those "A3 free flight" offer due to this disruption. My original flight A3624 was supposed to arrive into AMS at 1055am but I didn't get to AMS until 1720pm. Also, lounge access was refused as I was no longer flying on A3.... Actually the transfer desk said I could but the lounge dragon was adamant about the refusal.
Do you guys think I will get any compensation from EU261?
Will A3 offer Original Routing Credit for ATH-AMS? I do need that segment for tier renewal too....
PS. A3624's gate closed around 805am. My incoming flight was actually parked right next to that gate and we arrived at 810am. It was even more frustrating to see that the flight actually didn't leave the gate until 845am. Not sure how A3 operation management works but I wish they could have waited for the 10+ passenger on A3624.
PPS. There was an Sky Express flight that would get me into AMS around 12pm. However, A3 said it was impossible to rebook me onto Sky Express as they don't have any agreement with them.
PPPS. The transfer desk on the arrival floor was packed. At one point, over 50 people were waiting and yelling. Perhaps, I am a Gold member; I am grateful that I got rebooked and notified immediately while I was still waiting in SKG. Not sure if everyone got the same treatment. I did overhear that some passenger connecting onto Hamburg who got offered a free night accommodation and rebooked onto the next day as there is no other flight that day.
Anyways, good luck everyone! Please leave enough time for all connecting flights in Athens until the capacity reduction ends....
