AA is telling me they can't do anything because it's a Finnair disruption and saaver award availability is long gone on any other flights on any airline. Finnair telling me they can't do anything because ticket was issued by AA.
Interestingly, the Finnair website is giving me option of accepting one of several alternate flights:
1. Taking other Finnair flights remaining in J (but none that depart or gets me back the same day)
2. Taking a voluntary downgrade to Y to get my original departure and arrival date on AA/BA metal. (most convenient timing, no saver award availability on BA/AA, so looks like would book revenue tickets? not sure how this would work.)
I'm not accepting any of those options, because it seems like if those are available, Finnair/AA *should* be able to rebook me in business on AA/BA metal?
Based on above threads, it seems I might be able to convince AA to open space on their own metal, but if Finnair is willing to move to AA/BA in Y according to their website, shouldn't it be possible for liaison to get them to move to AA/BA in J?
AA partner liaison desk is closed today, so I will try calling again tomorrow, but would appreciate any tips on getting my original date in business.
How did you end up resolving this? Facing a potentially similar situation with an AY J booking on an AA award.
I'm surprised they only offered to put you in AA/BA Y instead of J.
(I am only connecting in HEL from non-EU to non-EU so EU261 rebooking provisions don't apply unfortunately.)
