Almost always you need to pay extra to use the satnav, but CarPlay is free and has been fitted to every car I have rented for the last ten or so years.

Nowadays most cars have bluetooth to connect but if you bring a cord make sure it’s USB-C as the older ones are largely phased out.

And the same could be said for satnav as it doesn’t have most of the convenience features or functionality of Maps or Waze.
