On one hand, I love a brand new hotel, especially a JW, but Mesm appears to have a more desirable location.

I think it will depend on what you want to do whilst in Tokyo
Whilst the mesm is close kyo shibarikyu and the hamarikyu gardens, it is about a 10min walk to the Hamamatsucho /Daimon JR oedo lines ( it is close to the Yurikamome monrail to Odaiba/Shimbashi), the JW marriott is closer ( very close to the Takanawa Gateway JR station ( Yamamote line which is very handy for a first timer in tokyo ime )
Here is the thread for the mesm if you are interested ( no personal experience of either hotel as I'm usually a hilton person) but am tempted by the JW for part of my december stay
