I agree that any connoisseur of Champagne does not get excited about this selection. But on the other hand, these are airport lounges, where you have people that usually drink beer or coke and don't buy Champagne themselves regularly, some of them fill their trinkets with champagne so they can have it "to go", etc - I am not sure whether serving Krug or Billecard-Salmon wouldn't be wasted on them.
Sorry but I think you have the demographic wrong here… this is supposed to be the First Class lounge of the “premium airline of the Lufthansa Group”, if anyone is a regular guest in one of these lounges they definitely do (or can) buy champagne themselves regularly, I know I do, and I collect it.
That said, I almost never drink in the lounge, however that doesn’t mean the selection isn’t embarrassing.
This lounge serves LX’s highest yielding customers based in ZRH, the most expensive city (or one of) to originate from in the group’s network.
No one has suggested they need Krug etc, that’d be a total waste, but for the same or similar money they could at least have a crowd pleaser. Drappier is fine but honestly they’d be better off having more variety of non-rose options.
