I booked room under my account for my parents once, but that because they don't have credit card (and refuse to have one) and will be hassle if they have to bring enough cash to cover the charge.

Booked a prepaid room, inform the hotel and my ambassador that the stay will be done by my parents. and ask if the hotel could put the deposit on my card on their arrival.
Didn't expect any upgrade or any other elite benefit for that stay.

But it seems like the hotel goes above and beyond and upgrade them anyway.
And somehow still credit the stay to my account.
