I do very much recommend the Alila Solo. It's not a resort and perhaps wouldn't be quite as good for kids etc, but the executive suite, spa and lounge are amazing and the staff also brilliant. As others mentioned, there is much less to do in Solo vs Yogyakarta, but if you're planning a more hotel-centred relaxing break, I think it is the better choice.
I'm curious about the Alila Solo. Is there anything to do in that city?
