In the Group 0 / Group 1 queue at the gate for an IB flight MAD>MIA. A lady behind us says that we have to step aside as 'this gentleman' is Group 0. (Please note the use of the inverted commas.) She had nothing to do with this guy, she being an SAQM - Self Appointed Queue Manager. I point out that my husband and I (no regal connotations) are both Group 0, so have no need to step aside. He positions himself just behind us. A few moments later boarding is announced for Special Assistance, children in buggies and Group 0 / Group 1. However I notice that a gate agent is standing at the front of our queue, only letting the assistance and buggies groups through.

Mr DYKIG0 (Do You Know I'm Group 0) loudly says step aside they are boarding Group 0. I turn to tell him a) that despite the announcement they are not actually boarding Group 0 and b) as we are both Group 0 we won't be stepping aside. I showed him our boarding passes, just so he was sure. Much harrumphing ensued. Less than a minute later we boarded.

My husband, who is Madrilleno (some of you will understand the implications of that), mentioned that based on the accent he knew exactly which country Mr DYKIG0 was from. It was not Spain or the US - and my husband had a few choice comments to make on that particular nationality, none of which I will repeat here.

Postscript. When we arrived at the gate in MIA, Mr DYKIG0 got up, didn't move and started making phone calls, blocking the aisle. Eventually a crew member had to approach him and politely ask him to disembark.
