Very puzzling. You purchased your ticket on either the EI website/ app. You did an upgrade and this is when things went awry? Your original ticket number starts 053?
Did you fly on EI metal or UA metal? The only thing that changed in your reservation was an upgrade from Y to J? No re-routing or delays/ cancellations?
If it's indeed an EI stock ticket then they are on the hook to give you your Tier Credits.
i assume that you have completed the form online for Tier Credits?
Perhaps the only thing left is to print off your booking confirmation (which will quote your EI stock ticket number), your J upgrade and send those with a covering letter to Shamrock House in Dublin. I had to write to them last year due to me needing Original Routing Credits as my requests on the online form were either lost in cyber space or being ignored! My letter in the snail mail did the trick
