That seems to be the problem relying on photos and reviews probably posted by the operator themselves. For example, that Westin in Phuket didn't have any pictures of the beach as it wasn't good. Once I was driving back to Bangkok from Ubon, on the way stopping in Sawai at the family of my GF's home, and we made a res at Pak Chong Village, about half way. The place we reserved said they had a pool, nice pictures, and we had reserved some sort of villa. When we checked in it turned out to be a cabin, the bedding smelled as bad as the pillows and the pool was green with algae. Needless to say we didn't stay. Fortunately, I had reserved thru hotels.com which provided a full refund, only about $25. Hit Bangkok in time for rush hour. Only reviews I will trust are ones where they point out something negative, like this one place in Khao Yai the review said the road leading to the place was a mess but the hotel was fine.
