This is different from the segment-based qualification that Alaska and many other carriers used to have where you could qualify by the number of segments as an alternative to qualifying by reaching a certain number of EQMs. Given that we are now having a program where status points are the only thing that matters and where many fliers will have a mix of SP from different sources, I think it is confusing to talk about segment requirements etc. And yes, I know AS started this.
