I modeled spend earn for SEA-HNL-SYD RT on HA vs 250% SEA-LAX-SYD routing (AA/QF). The base airfare for AS would need to be $8442 to break even on status points, which is not unreasonable compared to the AA/QF pricing. That said I can spend a little more time and fly CX YVR-HKG-SYD for a much lower J cost and get many more points for my trouble...and a burger and fries.
AS won't know what you paid on a partner flight. All partner earn will be based on miles, regardless of what earn method you've chosen with AS. So the % bonus for J and F for partner flights will apply to everyone regardless and can only be based on miles flown.
*I should add, this applies only to flights as noted in the chart posted on AS: "...when you book directly with our partner airlines", not partner flights books on AS.
