Plenty of 5 star hotels in Bangkok under $100 per night i.e. Berkeley, Eastin, Centre Points, Amari, etc. As far as the river area goes look at Avani Riverside etc. Agoda or Expedia have good deals. During the Phuket Sandbox I stayed at the Centara Villas and we used the Centara Grand for their beach. Looked good. If you sign up for their loyalty program, 1Points, you'll save some money and get the 3rd night free right now. At least that's the email I got. May try at checkin.
