For a 21.15 departure, if I was the one travelling, I'd arrive around 19.30 and I am an "early at the airport" person who enjoy that that would give me ample time for dinner, drinks and more (many other FTers would arrive a lot later than that). However, I appreciate that for someone who goes to the CCR less often they might want to arrive earlier to enjoy things even more thoroughly - even then though, I'd say that arriving before 6pm would really be an overkill.
45 minutes to spare is not arriving early at the airport for a longhaul flight for the vast vast majority of the population
