I’m running into a frustrating issue with Etihad’s “Buy Miles” feature and wanted to see if anyone here has faced something similar or found a workaround.
- I’ve tried multiple cards (debit, Visa credit, MasterCard credit).
- Each time, I get the confirmation page and even see the charge/pending hold on my account.
- Then, usually the next day (sometimes two), I get a cancellation email from Etihad/Points.com and the charge is reversed.
- This has happened three times now, despite using different banks and card networks.
When I called Etihad Guest, the rep told me there’s “no problem” with my account, and the website team just called it a “transactional issue.” They suggested trying with Amex, but otherwise said they can’t process manually since all purchases have to go through the website.
Has anyone here gone through this before? Is there any way around it? Any tips or success stories with Amex (or another method) would be appreciated.
