My main memories of STL and TWA (from a travel consultant POV) were the warnings that always appeared in Galileo.
NO TWOV facilities in STL
TWA offered very good fares UK-STL-YVR (for example) but I think STL did not have transit facilities, back in the day when transit without via was allowed by the US. It was cancelled in 2003
