Exit row seats being gone seems unlikely. A price change is definitely possible.

It would be nice if you could just go in and rebook to the same flight, keeping the seat assignment as well and just get some number of points redeposited into your account. Southwest used to have that feature, although with all their changes, that has gone away too, as far as I can tell. All those changes plus inferior flight times are why this trip is booked on United -- so just trying to understand all the processes that are in place.
An agent may be willing to do this for you if you ask nicely, although it's outside of policy. Personally, the number one reason I almost never flew WN was that I couldn't pony up for exit row seats, so I'm optimistic about the changes.

Seat fees are refundable. If you choose not to fly, you'll get a refund to the card -- not UA travel credit.
