Holiday Inn Eindhoven (revisit)
What is your IHG One Rewards status? Platinum
Were you happy with the hotel/stay? yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Standard double, upgraded to executive room
How are the rooms? as before, room size is slightly larger than in other properties of similar brands, plenty of space to walk around in. Good size desk for working, closed wardrobe with plenty of hangers, coathook, easy access to the TV HDMI port
What was your welcome gift?
2 small chocolates in the mini-fridge, renewed twice

And, 4 small bottles of water, renewed daily. But a welcome gift?
What was good and what was bad?
Good
clean, new, still in reasonable condition many years after the last refurb.
Plenty of power sockets, but no USB
space in the room.
My colleague on a separate booking was also upgraded to an executive room. He's silver, 0 nights this year and was very proud of his 22000 points from some stays last year. Goes to show even a little loyalty can be rewarded at some properties, especially when they have bus loads.
Bad
The pool is still closed, nearly 3 years now and always "re-opening soon". There's a sign on reception showing it's closed from 11th August to around early October. I asked if it had opened before the 11th August - no, just the date they started to put the sign.
One morning there was no hot water, making the shower more… refreshing. Shortly after reception said it should be back in 30 mins. Not really any help.
Value for $ or One Rewards Points? Would you return?
will return as it's a company preferred hotel. But this week it was around 250euro/night, normally around 100/110. They told me they had 3 groups in this week, but only 2 groups of bus tourists seen, and no great other gatherings observed nor looking very busy so perhaps some optimistic pricing on their part. Not good value and i would have looked elsewhere if i was staying for personal reasons.
