Holiday Inn Express Offenbach, Germany
What is your Priority Club status? Diamond
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? It was okay. Relatively new-ish HIX. Room facing towards a quiet neighborhood (just some noise from planes approaching FRA airport when opening the window.) Location near mass-transit and two supermarkets is good.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked standard, got standard with a mini-couch rather than the stool. It was a connecting room, though, boo! Sure, it is HIX and does for one night. Nevertheless, this HIX actually has many bigger rooms available according to the floor map. Considering this is Offenbach (= about as non-Diamond heavy as it gets), they certainly could have given a better upgrade on what seemed to be a quiet day.
How are the rooms? Small. Relatively fresh, conforming to one of the latest-gen HIX blueprints. Once again, on my floor, they had several quite large rooms (family room/suite..) according to the map so I guess a more substantial upgrade would, theoretically, be in the cards.
How is the exec. lounge? N/A
What was good and what was bad? Good--modern HIX, works for getting a night's sleep. Bad--welcome amenity not proactively offered, carpet not entirely clean, gave me a connecting room.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Booked this on points when rates in Frankfurt were ridiculous (Kimpton 416€ or 106k points). Given it's a modern HIX and commuter rail to Frankfurt's city center takes as little as 10 min, this hotel may have some use for "special situations" (i.e., excessive rates in Frankfurt). Certainly not a place I book routinely, though.
