I also find it odd that BA Gold only equates to the lower AA Emerald tier (despite on spend it being equivalent the top). I guess because BA has GGL and Prem vs CK.
I’ll sail past Gold qualification again but not hit thr GGL gating in requirement (but oddly spend more than that needed to renew GGL). But with a move abroad, I’m starting ti rethink my loyalty. A total 180 turnaround compared to when I first joined, had no status and went out of my way to travel BA because back then it was 100% mile credit on a BA flight (better than any other scheme). So if it was an extra £100 or so then it was BA. Now it’s just nothing special and gives me lounge access for Europe trips - the rest I get with my ticket.
Well, come April 2027 and I'll be solidly U2+PP for much of my travel. Let BA lie in the bed it's made. But that's already covered in other threads, so I'll make the most of this lounge while I can.
On the subject of capacity, will be interested to see if they let Mrs RC (silver) in when she's on the red eye in basic Y. It's a 388 so you'd think a busy period, and last year with the same status/cabin, she was punted over to the Marhaba. And not happy about it either...
