I'm vexed by a scenario where prepaying a hotel through Amex fhr for the fhr credit requires paying as part of the total at booking, the resort fee. Now fhr is an eligible rate and should waive resort fee but there is no way to have Amex not charge it and to get fhr credit, you have to prepay the stay with Amex. Anyone ever figured out a way around this quandary where you can get the resort fee/destination fee eliminated at some step and still get your fhr platinum credit?
