Something else for the OP to consider is also to stay in a hotel for 2-3 days upon arrival to effectively self-quarantine. Covid is very much still out there and it's best to be cautious. That's what we do with my in-laws and my Mum, all of whom are in their 90's. A failure of someone doing this earlier in the year resulting in my in-laws being flattened for 2+ weeks as a result of Covid, despite them being fully vaccinated and boosted. For people with compromised immunity or who are not vaccinated the effects are much worse (it claimed my father when he caught it in hospital a couple of years ago). This is one bug that you can't be too careful with. On the flight change aspects, I'm inclined to agree with the above poster - BA have already shown compassion by being prepared to waive the change fee. It is not unreasonable for them (or any airline) to require that a tariff increase be paid where necessary. Else the system would be wide open to all sorts of abuse.
