I had a stay 3 weeks ago that I hadn't posted about, and this is mostly about breakfast, as this is my 5th stay at this property and nothing else has really changed. And for the record, I don't stay here for or against the breakfast, but it's frequently one of my more company travel policy compliant Hyatt properties when it comes to $$, so if it's between this and the Hyatt Place Chelsea or similar...here we are.
As usual I was "upgraded" to a city view room on the 17th floor. The room was as expected and just fine. On to breakfast, I thought I was disappointed with the Hyatt Place-esque buffet on the rooftop, this current restaurant/ghost kitchen isn't much of an improvement.
My problems with this setup... There is no way to pre-order since the website isn't set up for it, and they don't send out the discount code until the morning of. This leads to a rush of orders placed at the same time and makes the food take much longer than promised. I ordered breakfast 3 of my 4 mornings.
Monday it was prompt, as in ~25 mins, which is what the hotel said to expect. The next 2 days were close to an hour. I don't have time for this, especially if you can't place your order until 7am. Day 2, I thought maybe it was an off day. Day 3, it was the same as day 2. Day 4, I said screw it, I'm not going to bother. The food was mediocre at best. The croque madame was OK (pictured below), the avo toast could not have been more bland if it tried. Not gonna lie, the best thing I ordered was the side of bacon. The restaurant also couldn't/didn't honor basic requests like "add hot sauce," but just gave ketchup. Note that the menu pic only includes the mains, not any of the sides/drinks.
