Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo

Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo

What is your IHG One Rewards status?

Diamond Inner Circle Royal Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
So-so.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Cozy Room (Cheapest one). Received same. Aside from direct bookings for the top Suite, this is my first stay at an IHG hotel without an upgrade in last 17 years. Since the hotel is fully booked, so there’s little to be done. Due to Kyoto City regulations, rooms under 20 sqm are restricted to single occupancy, which likely means solo guests are less likely to receive upgrades during peak periods at this property.

Having previewed this room previously, I found the room feels more spacious than those at the three Garner Osaka properties, and I was rest assured that I would discover the bathroom is a decent size.

How are the rooms?
14 sqm. 55 inch SONY LCD TV, UCC drip pod coffee maker. No bottled water in the room. You must go to the water dispenser in the hallway. Bathroom has proper bathtub.

Video of Cozy Room:

How is the Club Lounge?
This hotel doesn’t have the Club Lounge.

How was the mini-bar?
Fridge is empty. Coffee and tea only.

What was your welcome gift?
Standard choice from IHG one rewards welcome gift

Did you receive fruit in the room?
None

What was good and what was bad?
Good
++++++++++ Excellent price (75USD/night)
++++++++++ Well appointed room
++++++++++ Japanese style bathhouse on the penthouse floor
+++++ Convenient location

Bad
----- Breakfast is mediocre, not improved yet. Need to improve.
----- Due to Cozy Room is limited to single occupancy, The number of Glass, Mug, and Towels are set only each one. This is not acceptable.

Value for $ or One Rewards Points? Would you return?
Probably

This hotel offers a new generation of Holiday Inn. Everything is sophisticated. To be honest, much better than Crowne Plaza in Japan
