I took the Metro shuttle bus from TBIT to the LAX station, and took the train to the Mariposa station, which is less than three miles to my workplace. Lyft was charging $36 to take me three miles in El Segundo (not from LAX). Ride Yellow was $11 and the driver showed up within a few minutes. Most of the taxis I have been in recently are very clean and newer Prius and minivans.

FYI, the taxi stand at T7 can be reached directly from a separate entrance on Sepulveda, without needing deal with the LAX traffic at all, which means that the taxis can show up quickly when called (there is very rarely one waiting there).
Heh, I just left my car at my work for 2 weeks and took Lyft to LAX as well. It's 2 miles away. Going from work to LAX was $15 which is about what I thought it would be. Coming back I was at T7 and I wait and wait with a whole bunch of other people for the LAX-it bus. We saw bus after bus passing the stop without stopping. Finally I realized that they are probably all full by the time they got to T7. I started walking to LAX-it. The walk was actually quite easy. However, once I got there, both Uber and Lyft wants $32 to $36 to get back to my work 2 miles away. I probably should have just taken a taxi there, most likely cheaper or not much more. If I have known there is a taxi stand right there at T7, I would have taken it.
