Yeah, though I personally would not target 2MM, the marginal value over 1MM is minimal. But UA has so many more nonstop options from SFO than AS and AA combined, I'm not sure I would go all-in on One World. Even living in PHX (AA hub), I fly UA about 40% of the time, since I have an office in Oakland and spend lots of time in the Bay Area.
In terms of ease of retaining AA status, I mentioned this in the UA forum, but it is ridiculously easy with credit card spend and AAdvantage hotels. As an example, I've earned over 25k loyalty points over the past three weeks with just four nights hotel (all at Hotel Nikko in SF). So depending on how much one flies, it's totally possible to both maintain OWE through AA and do a significant amount of UA flying. I will say that overall UA is way more functional than AA, while AS has lost some of its soft product advantage over UA. OTOH, the T3 construction can be a real disincentive to fly UA in/out of SFO right now, particularly if checking bags.
