Yes, I'm pretty sure I just did this (not a SW FF). I had some credits from a cancelled flight (which to my surprise were now going to expire rather than being available forever, my fault, haven't kept up with the SW shenanigans).

Anyway, I had enough to cover the cost of a ticket that was 2 steps above basic (but not the highest one). What I like is if I have to cancel AGAIN I'm pretty sure it said I can now transfer that credit to another person.
