Though if you are doing a longer stay and want the kitchen and other home-like amenities then you are basically limited to your RI and the TPS by the airport, which is average.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have stayed at the Four Points and found it to be very dated and didn't like it. My current favorite in the area is the Marriott Melville. Next in the pecking order is the Courtyard Republic Airport. I also occasionally stay in Garden City near Roosevelt Field. The RI and CY there are nice; however, in recent years the award pricing has been too high. We will see on the RI Melville after my next stay, but I think it is likely I will be writing the property off at that point. Bottomline, many options in the area and folks will have different preferences. Choose which one works best for you.
