What is the business case for spending tens of millions of dollars to give away WiFi for free? Does that stack up with the current financial issues they face?
I regard free WiFi across the domestic Airbus and ATR fleets as something that is very much a nice to have rather than something that is essential for the business to offer.
While NZ will always own the regional market, they are facing increased competition from JQ. Especially on AKL-CHC, where JQ is shifting to 11x daily. Which makes it a very visible option for business travel.
The bundle deals on JQ are probably better value too eg with all of the bundles you get an $10 credit included. It doesn’t have to between 4-7 on week days to enjoy and beer or wine on your flight.
