So I will add "when upgrading tiers via retro-crediting miles, the date of the beginning of the higher tier is the day, on which the retro-crediting occurs, however these miles are still (only) valid for 365 from the actual date they were flown" and also "if you've been silver for a while, then the silver anniversary and the deadline to reach gold will very likely be two different dates, based on the 365-day-rule mentioned above" and I will leave it there, because we really have zero clues as to what your friend has done, how long she's been silver etc., how long she's been a M&B member etc. For upgrading purposes it's always a "rolling" year (while for retaining a tier it's a fixed year, based on the date you reached it), so that "May" deadline for her gold upgrade will possibly become a "June" deadline, or whatever else, according to when she's actually taken her flights in the previous year.

-> For the specific consecutive upgrades shortly after registering with M&B ("shortly" = silver within the first year after registering and gold within the year after reaching silver), that you asked about, see my previous post. You won't get any other information that's different than that and if you do, it will be false.
thanks - I'm slowly trying to graps it, but i think what is counterintuitive for me is the fixed vs. rolling year rules (I've been Asiana member for a looong time, and got used to simpler, full-year approach ).

I'm not retro-crediting miles, so for me the rule "fixed year for tier maintaing and rolling year for tier upgrade" applies.

So my final question would be - if I became M&B member in May 2025, plan to achieve silver in December 2025 and start accumulating miles towards Gold from January 2026 - will the "rolling year for tier upgrade" rule be anchored on the date of my oldest flight taken within that rolling period? In other words - how much time would I have in 2026 to achieve the 24k additional miles (and 4 flights) bearing in mind the above?

thanks for your patience and support
