Exactly. All airlines do this so there is no choice for people who want something different. I have seen agents barking at passengers in a rude manner to check bags on United, Delta and American too. Southwest is doing just fine with all of its changes and now is inline with how everyone else acts. They will probably make even more money now!
The other airlines do not have a business model and point-to-point network which relies on fast turnaround times to succeed.
