Does anyone know how the free bag on Aer Lingus works for American Airlines elites? I purchased a fare with a bag included and an FFP3 or whatever the highest american airlines status is on Aer Lingus. When I called support pre-trip they made it sound like I would get 2 bags (1 I paid for and 1 for being an elite) but when I got to the machines in Dublin on the way to the US they wanted to charge me for the second checked bag (although the airport was a mess that day so getting to a physical person for a discussion wasn't happening in the allotted time I had).
If you paid with a credit card, you should do a chargeback
I suggest you request a refund first. While I doubt you will get anywhere you need to show the card company that you tried to resolve with the company before doing chargeback.
Even if the amount is small, it is worth doing this on a point of principle. The root cause is EI's decision not to invest in technology
