Yes I've had this experience dozens of times and believe it or not, "can I put you on hold while I drive 15 minutes to my home, boot up my laptop, log in to my password manager, and find out the made-up answer to your made-up question does actually work. They are paid by the hour and they don't care as long as you give the answer.
