Not a hope. Toll Plaza to Terminal D parking is 2 miles plus the looping around…construction has reduced traffic to two lanes, when it’s free flowing. So, that’s an easy 5 minutes to actually get into the drop-off. Let say you got lucky, that’s 5 minutes…add 1 minute to get to the D30 security…and then 1 minute (somehow to clear security, as unlikely as that is)…and then it’s still another 1-2 minutes to the nearest gates.
That’s 8-9 minutes in a perfect world, from your 42 minutes entering the Toll Plaza…so at the Gate with three or four minutes to spare to ensure you can fly, by AA’s rules. Not the 2 minutes to enter, get to Terminal D, get dropped off, walk, clear security and walk you suggested.
AA and DFW have plastered warnings about delays at DFW due to construction over everything. I’m sorry, but I don’t understand how you think AA has anything to do with your failure to plan for possible delays.
Regardless of when I showed up, I showed up before T15 and my seat was given up at T18. Why publish T15 if the seat is given up before that time? Seems like a failure on AA’s part… and it seems like the gate agents knew it because now AA is trying to tell me my seat was only reassigned 2 minutes before departure. Which based on timestamps - when I was moved off the flight, boarding doors closed, etc, would have never been possible.
