Even assuming a drop-off, no baggage, Pre-Check and a Gate literally on the other side of security, 12 minutes to the gate is improbable. I would suggest arriving a wee bit earlier.
Day trip so only a briefcase. Terminal D has facial recognition TSA with no line.. (D30 departure). Drop off from car to the gate at DFW can literally take <5 mins. If DFW wasn’t a mess I would have been at the gate ~40 mins prior to departure. Doesn’t seem too crazy?
