Unsolicited Compensation
Unsolicited compensation: $250 e-credit / 15000 miles for delayed baggage. I got a phone call from a Delta rep (with an outside the beltway Georgia accent) apologizing for my baggage being delayed. It was delivered without incident the following day. I said that I appreciated it had been delivered without incident and mentioned the factors involved: schedule change making a tighter than usual connection (for me) even tighter, 30 min arrival tarmac delay in ATL due to gate occupied by an aircraft with a mechanical issue, had to run to catch the flight myself, and early departure of my connecting flight and was offered the above compensation. I took the $250 e-credit and have two thoughts:
1) I felt this was great customer service from Delta, so good for them!
2) I was surprised at the $100 differential between the miles and e-credit. Given the choice, which would you have chosen?
