Renewing in December should be fine, but enrolling as a new member in December might end up using the 2026 credit unintentionally.
Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, I don't know anyway to end my current membership early and get them to charge my Platinum now, but if it uses the 2026 credit, I guess I don't care, because, unlike hotel reservations/credits, there really isn't a benefit to using the 2025 or 2026 credit on the same yearly membership AND I also have a 2nd PLATINUM card.
I think this would only be important if Amex was making this a temporary benefit.
