If that was the case you would think this announcement would included it. Think of all the defective lithium batteries that are thrown in the trash every day. Every battery charger I ever owned basically exploded. All of them are dangerous. But I definitely agree with you because most people aren't going to go through the trouble of calling Anker even though they should.
For example, I tried to find a company that would take a severely exploding lithium battery when I was in Mexico and the guy told me he would take it to the university. People just throw them in the trash unfortunately.
Edit: The first power bank I ever purchased was an Anker and that was around 2012, if I recall and believe it or not it's still going strong. Whoever they used to manufacturer back then was worth every penny.
