It was officially always 5 stars for the UK issued Amex Platinum (President's Circle with USA issued cards). There was a way to get status match with your Avis President Club status (obtained via Amex Platinum UK) but not sure how to go about it. I have mine still linked to my old HSBC Premier World Elite card but have not actually rented from them in years (all my recent rentals were from Avis and Enterprise)
