Seems like this thread is long overdue for an update. I was looking for something convenient to LAX and Inglewood for a one night stay in between two concerts at the Forum, with the requirement of a sofa bed and separate bedroom. I initially booked the other LAX ES (North), but the reviews and parking situation made me reconsider, especially since I knew that the South was decent and has plenty of parking options. I normally stick with Hyatt and IHG whenever possible, and this was only my second ES stay. The atrium is very nice and felt fairly contemporary for an older hotel ("recently renovated"). There is an abundance of free street parking in the immediate and general vicinity. There is also a large parking garage two blocks away which is readily available for less than $8/24 hours (no ins/outs), so avoiding the $45/night parking fee is quite simple. The room was comfortable and felt about as modern as one would expect from this type of property.

I am assuming that all of the rooms facing south (away from LAX) have a view of nothing from the bedroom, as the windows are frosted over (there is an extremely NIMBY residential neighborhood behind the hotel). You do get a view of the atrium, assuming you leave the curtains in the living room open and don't mind every other person on your floor looking into your room. Another fun thing about the curtains on the atrium window is that they get caught in the door (and it is very difficult to avoid this with the curtains closed). This causes the door to jam and not open properly, which seems to be a well-known issue to the staff. The trick is that you need to ram the door open once you have unlocked it with the key.

FYI, the bathroom door is inside the bedroom (along with a second sink/vanity opposite the bed), which is something to keep in mind in case you are planning to utilize the the sofa bed. There is a third mini kitchen sink in the living room. Another consideration if you plan on using the sofa bed is that the east end of the atrium gets very loud during breakfast, so I would highly recommend something in the west wing. Being unfamiliar with the atrium layout and the window situation, I chose 5th (top) floor at the east end. In hindsight, the best location for non-airport view rooms is on the 4th floor in the west wing, which is the top floor for the western-most quarter of the building. In addition to having the gym and pool on the west end, it just seems like a much quieter area, complete with its own elevator bank.

My traveling companion, who is far more experienced with ES than I am, assured me that the breakfast and evening reception were at least on par with or better than average. I welcomed the selection of basic well drinks in the evening, and the varieties of omelettes available in the morning. The location is indeed very convenient to both LAX and with the stadium/arena in Inglewood. The dedicated hotel airport shuttle is on-call for airport pickup, with a published schedule of rides all day long to the airport. All in all, this hotel perfectly met all of my needs, at a price lower than any other nearby hotel for a 1BR suite, especially considering that breakfast and evening reception are included. I would gladly return here if the need should arise.
