The last couple of times I have been in I have more and more been using local online shopping in the country of the receiver. A bit less fun but after one time spending a good deal more on the shipping of one gift than the value of all 5 gifts, I started to appreciate the option of local online shopping a lot more.
On a more positive mood note, local shopping have also allowed me to ship items that would not be allowed for international shipping. E.g. Japanese gin.
