Or maybe while having lunch at the New York Grill at the Park Hyatt (which reopens in mid December).
I agree 100% that a six-hour tour is not best. However, such tours are offered and appear to be exactly what @tattikat2 wants. Somebody must be taking those tours for reasons. I probably wouldn't do it, but this is not my trip.

I can imagine reasons for taking the tour. Getting from Shinagawa to Tochomae or even waiting in line for the elevator could be difficult for some people. A free view from a distance is the right price, but I might be willing to pay a lot for the BEST view if that is what I really, really wanted. Especially if the luxury and simplicity of a hotel pick-up/drop-off was what I needed for my group of four. Maybe it's a once-in-a lifetime must do for a frail relative.

I’m still hoping there’s a company that can do a custom length tour to Fuji and back that someone could recommend,

Thanks,
At this point, it is time for you to reply and not just Like. You have been given lots of great options. I pointed you to info about tours though I haven't used one. I doubt that you will get any personal recommendations for a tour.

What do you think? Have you decided? What works or doesn't work for you? Why were you asking about a tour?
