No clue why AA would cover the cost of the hotel as the issue obviously isn't the airline, but the airports and the associated cyber-attack. Travel insurance should be the go to in this situation.
AA operates 5 direct flights from DFW - LHR. One plane is cancelled <> issues at LHR.
It was a maintenance issue on 154 on 20th and then eventually crew time out issue caused cancellation. Today I do not know the reason.
If a flight is cancelled and rescheduled for 24 hours later, I think the airlines should ensure accommodation is provided for the entire duration.
It is a rant that some might agree with - not applicable to all.
