They have no status and hence they are unable to the top of the queue for re-routing and better options like Qatar is not offered.
Two days in a row - there are other planes from DFW to LHR operating fine. Why not schedule in an earlier plane?

No clue why AA would cover the cost of the hotel as the issue obviously isn't the airline, but the airports and the associated cyber-attack. Travel insurance should be the go to in this situation.
