My daughter is well into being environmentally conscious, but not being an idiot she was befuddled when looking into taking the train from Copenhagen to Barcelona.

The train itinerary was as follows:

Copenhagen to Hamburg
- change -
Hamburg to Cologne
- change -
Cologne to Paris
- change-
Paris to Toulouse
- change -
Toulouse to Barcelona

Total travel time was 33 hours and the price, in 2nd class, was around 1000 Euro.

The alternative was a direct flight with either Vueling, Norwegian or SAS. Price roughly the same at 300 Euro, and a travel time of 2 hours.

She took the flight, as any sane person would do.
